MORTAL EMOTIONS
WRITTEN: JANUARY 27, 2011
WRITTEN: JANUARY 27, 2011
Even when you find yourself happy
You still find yourself lost
Even when you think you have someone, for some reason,
Your happiness is sometimes the cost
No matter how grand your life seems to be
Something just doesn't seem to fit
Dark nights that bring tears and sadness
And a comfort corner where you’re forced to sit
Rocking back and forth, you reflect
Trying to understand the workings of your mind
It’s like you forgot everything that matters
Like you’ve left everything behind
Someone shouts to you from a distance
They advise to write your feelings down
But as you reach for a pen and paper
Water flows around and you begin to drown
Life has its way of taking your breath away
Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse
So we act out, we scream, and we write
We run toward the crowd only to watch them disperse
This mortal life and its emotions
We can barely handle day to day
Every time we try, we fail
And sometimes we’re just not okay
Though your heart holds hundreds of chambers
Places for your love you haven’t even seen
Remember to keep one only for yourself
A sanctuary, a solace, a place you have once been
Dependence on others and searching for acceptance
Weighs a person’s heart down to a heavy ton
One cannot survive with a heavy heart
Lingering on thoughts of what you could have become.
You still find yourself lost
Even when you think you have someone, for some reason,
Your happiness is sometimes the cost
